ARA Addiction Recovery for all

ARA provides one to one counselling for people experiencing problems with their own gambling or that of a family member. 

Alzheimers Society

A national charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and offers supports to people living with dementia. Local support group in Bristol.

Bipolar UK

Providing a range of services to help people affected by bipolar to take control of their lives, with a local group in Bristol. 

Bristol Drug Project

Access free and confidential information, advice, and services to support clients with problematic drug or alcohol use.

 

Bristol Mind

A mental health resource for people in Bristol and surrounding areas providing a variety of services.

CRUSE bereavement care

National charity with a Bristol branch offering support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies.

Kinergy

Kinergy offers free long-term counselling to survivors of sexual abuse aged 16 and above in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, BANES, and North Somerset.

Knowle West Health Association

offers a free counselling service provided by qualified and student counsellors.

Heart to Heart Bristol

Low-cost counselling service in Bristol offering counselling with a qualified or student counsellor to anyone over the age of 12, including couples counselling.

Hillfields Family and community Trust

offers low cost counselling services to anyone who has become a parent under the age of 25, as well as the children of young parents, no matter their current age. 

Meeting Minds LGBTQ+ counselling

Bristol Mind’s low-cost counselling service for those identifying at LGBTQ+, delivered by therapists with LGBTQ+ lived experience.

Miscarriage Association

A UK-wide network of support volunteers, who have been through the experience of pregnancy loss themselves and can offer real understanding and a listening ear. Monthly support group in Bristol.

Mothers for Mothers

A group of mothers, most of who have suffered depression or distress after the birth of one or more babies. They also offer counselling for fathers. 

Nilaari Agency

Nilaari is a culturally appropriate service which delivers counselling for people with mental health issues.

Off the Record (OTR Bristol)

OTR is a mental health social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 living in Bristol and South Gloucestershire

Relate – Avon

Relate is the UK’s largest provider of relationship counselling and sex therapy which delivers its services through a Federation of local, independent, charities, including a branch in Bristol.

SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society)

A UK wide charity supporting parents and families whose baby is stillborn or dies soon after birth, and anyone affected by the death of a baby. Local group held in Bristol.

SANE

Support through SANEline, the only national out-of-hours specialist helpline for people affected by mental illness.

SARI

Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI) is a service user/community-oriented agency that provides support and advice to victims of hate, and promotes equality and good relations between people with protected characteristics as defined by law.

SARSAS – Somerset and Avon Rape & Sexual Abuse Support (used to be Bristol Rape Crisis)

SARSAS provides support to people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Somerset, who have experienced rape or any kind of sexual assault or abuse at any time in their lives.

Terence Higgins Trust

Online counselling for people living with HIV and local therapy services.

The Brandon Trust

The Brandon Trust exists to enable children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism to live life in the way they choose.

The Compassionate Friends

Supporting bereaved parents and their families after the death of a child of any age and from any cause.

The Harbour

Counselling for people with life-threatening conditions, for their carers, loved ones and those who have been bereaved by illness.

 

The Green House

The Green House provides free counselling for people affected by sexual abuse in Bristol & Taunton.

 

The Rainbow Centre

Provides a haven of peace for children and their families suffering from the effects of a life threatening illness or death in the family.

The Southmead Project

Southmead Project is a registered charity providing free therapeutic and practical support to adults who were abused as children and have turned to drugs, alcohol and other ways of self-harming as a consequence of that trauma.

The Willow Tree Centre

Provides a free confidential and unbiased one-to-one listening and support service for women (and their partners) experiencing difficulties related to unplanned pregnancy and after all types of pregnancy loss.

Swan Project

Swan Alcohol Project offers a range of counselling and other support services to people in need of help and advice.

Womankind supports women in the Bristol area with professional counselling, group psychotherapy, befriending and a helpline service.
